Relaxation assists children to manage their reactions to stress, anxiety and worry as well as reduces tension in the body. There are a number of things which promote relaxation for children.
Controlled Breathing and Muscle Relaxation
Encourage your child to take long, deep, controlled breaths which slow down the breathing rate and help children to relax. Muscle relaxation involves tensing the muscles then relaxing them so that your little one can recognise the difference between tense and relaxed muscles.
By having your child close their eyes and listen to a calm voice explaining a tranquil, imaginary scene, you are helping with relaxation. Children can also make up their own soothing image which makes them feel calm.
Message therapy for children
There are a number of therapy treatments available for children which relax muscles and calm the mind.
Mangwanani offers treatments to children through our Kids’ Spas and even some of our Boutique spas. Children from the age of six can enjoy the same therapies that adults enjoy including head, neck and shoulder massages, foot massages and hand massages. Younger children can enjoy treatments such as hand and foot massage with lower pressures.
Mangwanani Kids’ Spas are great venues for relaxing massage therapies for as well as a fun-filled experience for kids where they can get pampered. It is also a favourite venue for birthday parties and ‘little’ celebrations.
Added to that, Mangwanani has a variety of Kids product ranges that have a number of benefits for children and are appealing to children as they are bright colours and packaged with fun labels.
